First of all, is prospecting. This is when you start with a large group of people, either from some list, or the phone book or wherever, and sort through them. At this point, you are only looking for people who may have a passing interest in your product. Your job is to simply determine if they are interested, and then get their contact information. That's it.


The next step is information gathering. This usually comes at a face to face meeting, or a telephone call that is scheduled for ten or twenty minutes. This is when you find out information from them with regards to what they want. The more information you get from them, the better. This is a great time to find out things like how long they've been shopping around, what kind of price range they are looking for, an so on.

The last step is when you present your product and services, and show how it can satisfy all their stated needs and desires. If you do a decent job finding out their needs, then this could be the easiest step. Sometimes people will create this step on their own, as they will make the determination without your help that your product is the best one for them.

The most important thing to keep in mind that this a process. So long as you keep filling the front end of your funnel with prospects, you'll get sales. Just keep collecting prospects and moving them through this funnel, and you'll get plenty of sales.
