Have you got a good idea or a story, maybe one that's been bouncing around in your head for a while? If you've got an idea for a story, and aren't sure how to get started, then this article is for you. You'll learn the basic structure and elements to novel, so you can get writing. When you include all of these elements, then your novel will be more interesting to your readers, and you will be more successful. By the time you finish reading this article, you'll know exactly what to do.

The primary ingredient of any novel is the main character. The main character has to be somebody that most people would understand, identify with on some level, and root for when they get into a fight. The more realistic your character is, the more interesting your novel will be. Give them as many facets as possible, and know them as well as you can. Describe every aspect of them to yourself, and go into much more detail than any of your readers will ever know. This will make your character incredibly realistic and life like.

After you've got the character all worked out, you need to develop the basic story line. This is a logical sequence of events that goes from the hook, the introduction of the problem, the climax, and the resolution. The hook is what draws your readers into the world of your character. Once they've bought in, then you introduce the problem. The climax is when the character meets the problem head on, and the resolution is how everything comes on when the story is finished.

Just like the development of the plot, the main character should also develop. When they face the main climax, they should be facing a pivot moment in their lives, whose outcome is uncertain. There must be a real risk of failure, so that when they succeed, they are transformed somehow. When the resolution comes, they must be a completely different person than when they started.

And finally, your novel should be interesting. The main character should be somebody most people would want to root for. The problem they face is something that the reader could imagine themselves facing and possibly overcoming themselves. And the resolution shouldn't leave anybody hanging, or give anybody any nasty surprises.

Although there are several different models and structure of popular fiction, the above is the most popular and the most widely used. When you make sure that whatever story you write adheres to this structure, it will have a much better chance of being read by many more people. The only thing left for you to do now, is to get started.
